Thursday Evening Social
Thursday evening's social event will be a Carroll County Reinvestment Tour of, also more commonly known as a "Bar Crawl". We will be traveling in the lap of luxury on a Windstar Lines bus as we visit many of the county's finest hot spots. We will begin our evening at the Carrollton Inn, where most out of town conference participants will likely be lodging for the night. 6:00 p.m. The bus loads up and the fun begins... Our first stop of the evening will be at the Santa Maria Vineyard & Winery, where we will enjoy pizza, appetizers and a cash bar. The Santa Maria Winery is a Tuscan style winery that is housed in a historic building in Carroll, once home to a car dealership. 7:30 p.m. Bus loads up once again... After enjoying the atmosphere at the winery, we will head to Templeton, Iowa, a small community approximately 20 miles south of Carroll. Here, we will stop at The Still, a local bar/restaurant. After enjoying an adult beverage (or two) from the cash bar, we will head to an iconic stop in Iowa, the Templeton Rye distillery, where we will get a quick tour and a free sample of Iowa's finest whiskey! 9:15 p.m. Bus fun begins again... Once we've toured the distillery, our bus will once again hit the road, taking us to The Angry Beaver, a well known bar in Maple River, IA, a short 15 minute ride from Templeton. Many of you may have heard of this fine establishment, formerly known as the "Critter Bar" because of the nearly 100 animals that adorn the wall. We will ogle the critters while tossing back a cold one until the bus loads up one final time, to head back to the Carrollton Inn. 10:30 p.m. Final bus trip of the evening... a short 10 min ride back to Carroll. Once we have arrived back at The Carrollton Inn, our final destination, it is up to participants to decide if they would like to extend the evening and enjoy The Carrollton's Swizzle Stick Lounge, or to journey to their rooms to rest up for Friday's busy day. |
